  • So how about that Hreinn game eh? I found it rather enjoyable personally. Perhaps excessively focused on orcs and sex with orcs, but my understanding is that this is temporary. And some of the orcs are pretty cool despite that - I like Lutvrog and Jadk.

    • While I do like it, there isn't enough there for me to really be able to judge it fairly yet. Personally I'm just hoping someone makes a guide for it soon, there are way to many variables going on for me to keep track.

The lack of a day counter to tell me how long I've been playing is also annoying since it limits my ability to plan ahead.

        Loading editor
    • There is a guide, though it's not what one would call comprehensive. You might be better off opening up the script.rpy file yourself on your second run, and using RenPy console commands for variable tracking.

    • Where could i find this guide i can't seem to get past the ritual

        Loading editor
    • What trips you up? The ritual should be the last thing you attempt to do in this release, as completing it triggers the trial and the end of the chapter.

Try leveling up by sparring with orcs.

        Loading editor
    • To pass the ritual, you need:

      • >= 150 Stamina
      • >= 2 Level

The walkthrough is here. Although Decanter's suggestion of using the .rpy file as the walkthroughguide is the better solution.

        Loading editor
    • How does one do that as I find the guide equally lacking and with games like KoD some precision is needed for the better outcomes.

    • It's just a text file. Open it in your text editor of choice.

    • looks up text editors and brain melts Uuuh, do you have any recommendations?

        Loading editor
    • A text editor is just any program that will edit plain text files without doing funky things to them. Notepad is one. I use Notepad++ (no actual relation to Microsoft's program).

    • thanks the stamina part got me

    • Which text editor do you use for TLS? I tried using Notepad++ and it got headache inducing walls of symbols and nonsense.

    • Most RPGMaker VX data files are binary, not plaintext. :) Thus, they can be reasonably edited only with RPGMaker itself. You can do some stuff with Notepad++, though - I've used it to find specific parts of the dialogue with the "Find in files" feature, and even to track down the use of a variable, once I figured out which sequence of symbols represented its number (you need to know about ASCII for that, and to figure out RPGMaker's strange offsets).

        Loading editor
    • yeah that's a lot more than I know how to do but thanks for the response :)

If you don't mind my asking, how do you use RPGMaker to edit, or in my case, look at the files coherently?

        Loading editor
    • RPGMaker opens the game as a project - it's main window is organized as a map editor, with various other editors and resource managers as sub-windows. If you are curious how this looks in action, google "RPGMaker screenshots". There are a few screenshots on this wiki, such as File:Arsehole_and_Jibbers.jpg, which shows the game database editor opened on the "Skills" page, with a bit of the map editor visible in the background. File:Database screenshot.png shows the "Common events" page of the database editor, with the common event responsible for the ledger.

    • I downloaded ace and see what you mean the problem is idk what to open that doens't have RPGMaker give me "unexpected file format" response.

        Loading editor
    • Whatever program you've used to decrypt the game archive should also give you an option to create a RPGMaker project file (.rvproj2 for Ace). You open that.

        Loading editor
    • Oooh, so I need to decrypt the files, so I was missing a step...whoops

    • Just in case that anyone is (still) interested, there is a couple of guides:

I was contemplating the option to make my own guide but there are enough overlap between the two that my original idea (a strong, well-balanced Sabia would be my focus) is already available.

    • Hey Lostone2, just wanted to drop by and say thank you for linking my guide (Ndsferrari). Glad you think it's worth sharing. Have a nice day!

        Loading editor
    • My playthrough looks a lot like Ndsferrari's one. Only real difference is that I "allied" with all orc captains. Meaning taking advantage of their offerings, without really caring to help them. The trial still favoured Rokgrid though, so he was happy, while Tekrok was not.

I have no access to the hidden in game stats though, so not sure that this is better for your hidden stats. From the reactions I saw in game, I could only see benefits from doing that though.

It's good to have the chance to thank you for making it (as so far, I'm still not approved to make posts in the ULMF forums despite the fact that I had contacted the people that can approve it). Also, I have added a mention of it in the reddit thread.

The most notable thing that I disagree with your proposed is your decision to lock yourself of the hunt by not allying (for the trial only) with Rokgrid (the alliance with Tekrok doesn't appeal to me).

        Loading editor
    • Ah yes, a controversial yet conscious choice for what I wanted to achieve there - subject to be changed in future versions of the game. I don't want any kind of association with Rokgrid or Tekrok for now.

I do have multiple saves and in one of them, following exactly the same steps as the walkthrough, I also ally with Rokgrid before the trial. And in case I decide to change the walkthrough in the future to accommodate this alliance, I have a whole bunch of notes ready so it should be really simple to do.

The reason why I choose to completely ignore them is because I'm not convinced it wasn't Rokgrid behind the rogue orcs that Lynn sent to kill us. And Tekrok is, well, Tekrok. In my mind the way they work is only dividing the tribe so, if possible, I want to overpower both of them and unite the tribe under my banner. Preferably by killing Tekrok in combat and getting Rokgrid executed for being a traitor if he was indeed behind the rogue orcs. If he wasn't we can always pin the Tekrok assassination on him >=D .

But anyway it's still very early in the game to tell what may or may not happen. I just like to speculate and make scenarios in my mind. You can't help but doing it after playing TLS for so long.

That's my goal too. If you agree to ally with both of them, you don't just ignore them, but actively take advantage of them. Furthermore you gain access to hunting, best armor and 20 gold (my Sabia didn't even had to do clean up work. Just got Rokgrid's money, bought a knife and a maid uniform-->served drinks once--> got a silver sword--> went hunting --> bought stamina training--->spar with some orcs--->whipped Lutvrog's ass http://prntscr.com/gz0rcs .

    • Yes, I also save a save like that. But it doesn't feel like a playthrough like this needs a full walkthrough; It's pretty easy to just ignore the trial part of my walkthrough and adapt it to do this and then start following it after the trial.

The thing about playing them against each other is that after the end of the trial, both of the alliances will be cancelled (putting you back to where to walkthrough is) and you will incur a -3 penalty to both A_tekrok and A_rokgrid. If you also choose to let the catgirls go free later (-1 to both), you will be at -4 with both of them. This may or may not lock us out of some things in future versions.

The obvious advantage of playing them both is unlocking Hunting and having an easier start (and an easier time during the Feast event). We still don't know how relevant Hunting will be throughout the game though. I think it's just something you do at the start and that's it; but if I'm mistaken and it turns out to be something huge, I'm already prepared to adapt the walkthrough.

Another advantage is that Hunting 10 times will also give you 10xp and put you right at level 4 before the Soldier fight when travelling to meet up with Vehlis. You don't actually need to be level 4 to beat him though, and given how the xp curve works in this game (needed xp = previous level xp * 2) that 10xp feels like it's gonna be irrelevant pretty soon.

In the end, it's a lot of speculation on my part. I will need more versions of the game to see how things will play out and keep adapting the walkthrough if necessary.

Just one small detail about the Slave Armor: in practical terms, so far, it's no different than using the Leather Armor since there are no enemies that use magical attacks yet. Using the Leather Armor is, in fact, the superior choice at the moment for one small plot detail: When you you travel to meet up with Vehlis you will get more A_vehlis (+2 instead of +1) if you have it equipped. This may or may not snowball into affecting your orcfestivalscore during your chat with Vehlis depending on your other choices when talking to her.

        Loading editor
    • For the Vehlis encounter I got the leather armor of course. Concerning the captains. Only Dayrab seems a genuine threat to my Sabia intellectually. Also I made Rokgrid happy.;) So only Tekrok has a very negative opinion of Sabia, which seems to be the proper way, since he clearly is the main guy for a submissive, cockwhore Sabia. Hope my bad ass Sabia can kill Tekrok not so long down the road anyway. A negative stat might be even helpful there.

Also Rokgrid can surely not be trusted totally either, but I see him as an opportunist, who can be made into Sabia's follower, if her goals are similar to his. As long as she doesn't show weaknesses, which a proper minmax playthrough should prevent, I expect him not to be a big problem.

But yeah we will see and your guide is still helpful, even if it turns out some choices are contraproductive, because it shows the hidden stats change. Would be cool though to have something like for "Last Sovereign wiki" where you can see all the possible hidden stat changes.

    • I think that if Chandler (and me, to a certain point) would have know in July 2015 that Sierra was able to create so many different games, we would probably have created a Sierra Lee Games wiki, similar to the Alicesoft wiki. I was not expecting Ouroboros and I was definitely not expecting Hreinn Games *lol*.

    • Given that only Wikia staff can add new namespaces, it might have been a mess anyway.

edit: That said, we are probably going to want a collaborative space for making a guide to Desecration of Wings, as it's a bit much for any one person (especially without an event dump tool). Might have to make an exception to the general policy on this wiki and dedicate a page to it, whether in the main article namespace or a user's subpage.

    • If the opinion of one who uses the wiki but does not contribute matters, I would like and use a "Sierra Lee wiki." I very much want information about short games like "Ouroboros" or "Crimson Gray" but they do not need their own wikis. A collected wiki is good to my eye.

There are comprehensive guides for those, so I don't see the point, at least at this time.

    • KoD feels like it's gonna need its own wiki at some point though. Maybe it's easy to just read the script.rpy for now that the game is in its earlier versions but imagine further down the road when the game is at, let's say, 0.10 version. Trying to make a full comprehensive guide with all the choices and what each one of them affect (and display it all in a way that's easy to read) is already something that isn't easy to do and honestly it gets a bit confusing to read. I made one such guide and scrapped it because of that (maybe I just used a bad layout tbh).

That being said, if it's needed I would be willing to help a KoD wiki if one is ever made.

    • Anybody have suggestions on how to earn money more easily? It seems like a lot is needed to host a decent festival dinner, but the only money-making opportunities I can think of produce relatively little. It would take a few months of hunting or working at the bar to raise enough - am I missing something?

    • Helping the the equipment merchant gives the best stamina to money ratio. If you don't mind to reload a lot then the general goods merchant gives you the most money in a relative short amount of time.
